It all started in the summer of 1974/75 when Fr Tom Shortall OMI (an Oblate priest) decided to open a drop-in centre for young people who were holidaying with their families in Rosebud. The centre was a place of community and friendship and helped keep the young people off the streets and out of trouble. That spirit of community and friendship has continued for a remarkable 50 years, with the Rosies van reaching out to some of Melbourne’s most vulnerable.
To mark this incredible achievement, we are inviting volunteers and supporters of Rosies - past and present - to celebrate with us.
Whether you were with us in the beginning, or joined in along the way, we invite you to join us for a celebration Mass and lunch. We hope it will be a great opportunity to reminisce and share experiences and stories between current and past volunteers.
Date: Sunday, 24th November, 2024
Time: 10am Mass followed by lunch
Where: St John Vianney Parish, Police Rd, MulgraveVIC
To assist us with planning and catering please RSVP by 14th November, 2024.
