"We must first help them to become humans, then Christians, and then finally, saints."

Becoming an Oblate
The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate are a community of priests and brothers who working with their extended oblate family of committed lay people, endeavour to serve those most in need.
Becoming an Oblate brother or priest is a journey that many young men may wish to undertake. It is a journey of discernment, prayer, and ultimately commitment, to one way of life or another. In addition to the living witness of individual Missionary Oblates, further information about our charism and community can be found below.
If you feel called to our way of life, please contact the vocations co-ordinator to learn more about the process and to begin the conversation, which will have many questions along the way. Whether you are located in Melbourne or another city in Australia, we will endeavour to partner you with a local Oblate who will journey with you in your discernment.
As you continue to search for the answer to the question, “does God want me to be an Oblate Missionary?” It will be very important to do three things:
To pray every day, asking that God’s will be clearly known to you;
To attend the celebration of the Eucharist regularly;
To seek the advice from a priest who knows you well, who may or may not be an Oblate.
Trust God. God loves you and will lead you to the answer that is best for you, so that you may find your goal.

Spirit and Service
The Oblates are men who are "set aside" for the Gospel. They go out and preach the Good News to the poor and most abandoned. We our spirit and our way of service are centred on this Oblate charism.
Reflections and resources
Articles, reflections, resources, updates and more that will help you along the journey of discernment.
St Mary's Seminary
Our brothers in formation live a life of prayer, study, community and mission. This dedicated lifestyle, under the guidance of the Seminary Rector, helps them discover more fully the life of the Oblate and trains them as clergy for the mission of God.
